Mr. Buchta has over 28 years of experience developing investment strategies for financial institutions across the various fixed income sectors, with an emphasis on MBS, CMBS and other asset backed securities. Over the years he has worked with banks, credit unions, insurance companies, money-managers and hedge funds to develop comprehensive investment and hedging strategies specific to each investor class. In addition to providing market insight and cross-sector relative value trade ideas to institutional clients, Mr. Buchta also provides periodic commentary on macroeconomic themes, interest rates, mortgage prepayments and the housing markets.

Prior to joining Brean Capital, Mr. Buchta was a Managing Director and the Head of Mortgage Strategy at Sandler O’Neill and Partners, Braver Stern Securities and Guggenheim Capital Markets. Before that, he was a Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns, where he headed up the Mortgage Products Group, specializing in structured Agency mortgage strategy. In his 20 years at Bear Stearns, he was also a senior member of the Portfolio Strategies Group and a frequent contributor to the acclaimed ‘Across the Curve’ weekly research publication. Mr. Buchta holds a Bachelor of Science in both Computer Science and Finance from Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
